The Wadi's

The Wadis in Oman are vast and varied but the basics remain the same in terms of safety. Know where you are going, and know when the water is coming in.

Flash floods are the reason for many lost lives as people just dont believe how fast the flash floods can turn the previously quiet and dry wadis into a seriously fast raging torrent that has the capability to wash a landcruiser away in minutes.

Ruben, Baktia and Alwyn are just as much at home in the wadis in Oman as they are in the desert in the UAE - and over the years that we have been working over there Ruben especially has gained the trust and respect of the local drivers (they trust that he is going to bring their lunch with him and they respect the fact that he knows where he is!)

Baktia, loves the wadis because they are so much easier to set up than the desert, and people cant get stuck in the wadis either so no digging!! He speaks every dialect that the Omani's have thrown at him to date - he is a good man to have on your side, and we wouldnt dream of going without him at ours!
