Arabic Night
It is the most amazing night for people that have not been
to Dubai before and if they have and they have done this as
a tourist it will be even better. We are very good at this,
and one of the few things that we are inflexible with is our
standards. However there are many ways to achieve this, and
whilst this is probably one of the major budget investments,
it doesn't have to break the bank! The better known way is
the Arabic Night described below, but we can also do fabulous
dune top dinners for smaller groups and traditional Arabic
Nights on Dhows....
The work involved for the standard Arabic night is incredibly
extensive, set up for example starts at around 5am, decoration
arrives by the truck load, the campsite is cleaned, we truck
in water and generators, additional lighting, drivers dinners,
staff lunches, the list goes on and on. Overall a 150 person
dinner can involve well over 50 crew.
We tailor the campsites to specific group size, smaller groups
smaller campsites, larger groups larger campsites and so on.
All groups are different and we feel that forcing each and
every group to use one specific campsite ie one that we owned
is the wrong approach.
Optional entertainment here is fairly broad reaching, we
recommend that you always look at taking the Arabic band and
the belly dancer as the evening is just not complete without
them.
Other things include fortune-tellers who we normally have
to hide at the end of the evening to get the people in to
the cars, then we have the camels and the henna ladies, and
shisha pipes. After the belly dancer European entertainment
is a good idea as the Arabic music gets to you after a while.
Along with the set up and menu is all the décor and
we now do sand skiing at the site itself… much better
as if people do fall over they can get under the tap straight
away without having to wait for an hour or two covered in
sand.
Timings - what to watch out for is the drinks bill here.
Not that it's expensive but think about the total amount of
time you have with an open bar - from half five to ten eleven
o'clock, it's quite a long time and people have been in the
desert so they are hot.
For larger numbers we utilise a different format of arrival
and when we write your programmes this will be explained.
Lastly we'll be honest here, we have said before that we
are not the cheapest DMC in Dubai however with this evening
you really do get what you pay for, this is exactly the same
set up that you would get in a hotel and in fact it all comes
from a hotel. Glasses are glass and silverware is just that
- we do not do plastic. There really is a bathroom attendant
not a cardboard cut out and yes we brought the water tanker
in too…
Lately we have been asked more and more for cut down Arabic
night, we'll be the first to tell you that the actual Arabic
night formula whilst looking amazing has about as much class
as a stick of Blackpool rock. What we have been developing
is a sunset bar / Arabic night.. Yes no campsite!
The results are stunning. imagine a five star set up on top
of a sand dune... nothing else it's beautiful and costs less.
The other option here is to bin the Arabic night totally
and go with what we call the expat BBQ.. it's done in the
desert like the Arabic night but it's more of a dune party
- like we who live here would do if we went in to the desert
- large chunks of meat sizzling on the BBQ with an unplugged
band strumming in the back ground... would you believe
it this has been our most successful way of using the desert?
